Whole-House Retrofit – Traditional Granite Property

Location: Highlands? Deeside?

Building type: Pre-1900s traditional granite house

Approach: Whole-house, fabric-first retrofit

Project Overview:
A deep retrofit of a traditional granite property, delivered using a fabric-first approach to improve energy performance, comfort and long-term running costs. Works included insulation upgrades, heat pump installation, solar PV and improved ventilation.

Outcomes:

  • EPC rating improved from G to A
  • Annual carbon savings of 2,618 kg
  • Annual energy bill savings of £2,547
  • Significant improvement in comfort and internal temperatures

Why this matters:

This case study demonstrates our ability to deliver complex, whole-house retrofits on traditional northern Scottish building types, the same principles we apply to stone, rubble and moisture homes common to the Highlands and Islands.
